Post duration 6-12 months

Start dates February or August

=========================

Frimley Park Hospital (part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust) is a friendly and innovative 700 bed acute hospital based on the Surrey/Hants border. We are rated as “excellent” by the Health Care Commission and staff scored the Trust in the top 20% of hospitals in England for training, development and job satisfaction. Our Obstetric Unit has 5500 deliveries per year for which the Anaesthetic Department provides 24h cover. Consultant anaesthetic cover is provided to delivery suite for 12h per week day and for daily elective caesarean lists. High Risk Obstetric Anaesthesia clinics take place weekly.

The Fellow’s clinical commitments will be focussed in obstetric anaesthesia with time spent on delivery suite, in theatre and in clinic. The Fellow will be supported in undertaking a research project and will be encouraged to actively participate in project design, protocol writing and the acquisition of ethical and research and development approval. It is hoped that the Fellow will go on to present work at regional and national level and potentially gain publications in the field of obstetric anaesthesia.

The Fellow will take part in the trainee 1:8 on call rota, being on call for Obstetrics, the Intensive Care Unit or Theatres as required by the department. The trainees are supported by an anaesthetic consultant and an intensive care consultant on call from home.
