Perioperative Medicine Royal Cornwall Hospital

The Royal College of Anaesthesia have emphasised the importance of Peri-Operative Medicine (POM) and have formally constructed advanced training modules. RCHT Anaesthetic Department will embrace this College focus and offer an Advanced Level Peri-Operative Medicine Fellowship. The post will suit a senior trainee interested in clinical and leadership aspects of peri-operative care. The post will be overseen by senior clinicians with clinical and managerial academic and practical experience.

This 6 month post will include the opportunity to develop a suitable trainee within the following areas:

  • Management Positions in Perioperative Services - Leadership Development

  • Quality Improvement in POM

  • Evidence Base Clinical Pathway Development and Change Theory

  • Para-Anaesthetic Acute Medicine

  • High Dependency Care Principles

  • Executive Coaching Skills Application to Complex Shared Decision Making

  • Near Patient Opportunities for FEEL and FAST Ultrasound and Ultrasound Regional Anaesthesia

  • Peri-Operative Risk assessment, Biomarkers, Invasive and Non-Invasive investigation

  • CPET Interpretation and Cardiac Echo

  • Anaesthesia and The Elderly Population​
