Positions can be negotiated as 6 or 12-month terms, with commencement either in February or August of any given Hospital Employment Year
Austin Hospital is an 800-bed, University of Melbourne affiliated Tertiary Referral centre, which performs over 35,000 elective and emergency procedures per year. It is a specialist hospital for Major Hepatobiliary (including Liver Transplant), Upper GI, Thoracic, ENT, and major Aortic surgery.

Our afterhours roster provides the unique opportunity for Fellows to fill a 'First On-Call' role in a major tertiary centre, with dedicated Consultant backup. On-call shifts are approximately 1-in-13, and will involve supervising ANZCA-accredited Trainees both onsite, and also from home where appropriate. This is an excellent way for Fellows to transition into independent Consultant practice.
We also have a strong record of assisting appropriate overseas candidates who are looking to transition to FANZCA.
Pay rate is as per the most recent EBA/Award, with an average of 45hrs per week including Clinical Support Time.
