Paediatrics at Starship Children's Hospital, Auckland

3 positions available : 1 x 12 months anaesthesia, 2 x 6 months anaesthesia + 6 months PICU

Prior paediatric anaesthesia experience is essential.

Applicants must have completed the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) Fellowship exam or equivalent.

The only tertiary referral hospital for New Zealand and the surrounding pacific islands. Mixture of first and third world medicine. Starship is the sole provider of congenital cardiac surgery in New Zealand.

Clinical exposure to general paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia as well as subspecialties including craniofacial, neurosurgery, urological, major orthopaedic scoliosis, airway surgery including reconstruction, cardiac and transplant (cardiac, liver & renal). Will also be involved in acute pain management.

Fellows will be allocated 5 hours non-clinical time every other week for research and educational activities.

Fellows will participate in the on call rota, working approximately 1 weekend in 4.

There is an active audit and research programme within the department and fellows are encouraged to become involved.
