Clinical experience: Fellows will learn under the supervision of an attending regional anesthesiologist in a block-room model. They will learn a variety of upper and lower extremity blocks for orthopaedics, plastics and general surgery, using single-shot techniques and continuous catheters, and utilising ultrasound guidance. Participation in the acute pain service managing approximately 2000 patients per year.
Fellows will also provide non-regional anaesthesia in specialties such as neurosurgery, major spine, general, bariatric, urology and interventional radiology.
Research: Fellows are allocated 20% of their time to persue reasearch projects. Expected to join ongoing projects and initiate at least one project with the aim of publication or presentation.
Regular education in the form of journal clubs, case discussions and didactic presentations.
Fellows expected to assume a teaching role with anesthesia residents.
